Steels Industrial Products Limited has opened its brand new Calgary warehouse and high output insulation facility.  Located at 4880 104 Avenue SE in the new Eastlake Business Park, Steels is now better able to serve contractors, builders and architects with their building materials needs locally.

The 104 Avenue facility designed by Calgary’s own Boucock Craig Wong Architects was built using the “tilt-up” technique of building construction.  The process involves the pouring of insulated concrete wall panels onto the floor slab, curing them, and lifting them by crane.  The panels are put into place and held up with braces until the roof trusses are installed.  This type of construction being re-introduced into the Calgary area features shorter project lead times and offers flexibility with the size and type of panels installed.

Steels new location replaces an outgrown space that simply was no longer able to meet the demands of the area’s booming building business. “We have moved from a small office, tiny showroom and a low bay warehouse into a 100,000 square foot high bay, heated warehouse space with a delivery ramp capable of accommodating semi-trailers.” explains Steels president Jim Sidwell.  In addition, we are launching our high output insulation fabrication plant, adding offices and a 2,500 square foot showroom where customers can view our wide range of products in a comfortable, naturally lit environment”.

As a member of the Thermal Insulation Association of Canada and Alberta, the Calgary team is excited with the expansion and modernization to our insulation fabrication facilities, creating more local jobs.  “Included in our product portfolio, the plant produces fiberglass faced products such as Metal Building Insulation and our own formaldehyde free duct wrap.  With the new addition to our pipe manufacturing division, the fastwire profile saw produces a wide range of pipe insulations.” explains Insulation Business Unit and Alberta General Manager Blayne Duthie. “Our new fabrication facility will eventually be manned to three full eight hour shifts, allowing for quick turn-around service and maintaining a high level of quality for our customers.  The new location will be opened Monday to Friday from 7:00am until 5:00pm.

Steels Industrial Products Limited is a division of the FAMA Group of Companies, and is headquartered in Surrey, British Columbia.  Steels is Western Canada’s one local source for expert product knowledge and a complete line of building materials across our contractor supplies, masonry, insulation, roofing, log homes, safety and environmental divisions.  With ten locations across British Columbia and Alberta, Steels has provided contractors, builders and architects with more local materials in just one stop since 1955.  For more information visit us online at www.steels.com.
