Total Rewards

Steels believes that compensation should be more than just a pay cheque. Total Rewards are all the financial and non-financial elements of a job and company that are important to an employee.

Compensation

Each position within Steels is evaluated and assigned a competitive salary level based on job responsibilities.  The salary levels for positions take into account the skills and education required to do the job, the demand for those skills and education required in the local job market, and the compensation for jobs both inside and outside the company.  The salary ranges are reviewed annually to maintain a competitive position within our industry to ensure employees stay motivated and are rewarded for their hard work.

Most hourly warehouse and crane truck driver positions are assigned a level on a wage progression grid, which allows the employees to understand what is needed to progress through the grid and when to expect the pay increases.

Education and Employee Development

The Steels executive group supports and endorses the value of employee development and linking learning to our business objectives.

Employee development is one of the eight key components of Our Excitement is Building credo.  Steels is building a culture where every employee has the opportunity to grow and improve.  Steels has high expectations for each employee to continue growing and developing in his or her job at Steels.

Benefits

Steels understands that benefits are very important to employees and their families and, for that reason, benefits become an integral part of an employee’s total rewards.  Steels provides employees with a comprehensive set of benefits designed to help meet the needs of the employees and their families.  The benefits available depend on an employee’s employment status, but the majority of the employees enjoy the following benefits:
